Abstract

The prevalence of stunting in Central Indonesia is 24.5%-10.9%, based on SSGI 2021 data. This research aims to examine the situation of animal food source consumption and the prevalence of stunting in each district/city in the Central Region of Indonesia. This research is an ecological study analysis. The unit of data analysis used in this research is the secondary data of regency/city in the Central Region, which includes 92 regencies/30 cities from six provinces in Indonesia, namely Regencies/Cities in Banten Province, West Java Province, Central Java Province, DIY Province, East Java Province, and Bali Province. The data collected consists of stunting data for children under five and animal food consumption in the form of kg/cap/year and kcal/cap/day in 2021. West Java Province was the province in the central part of Indonesia with the highest prevalence of stunting. In contrast, Bali Province had the lowest prevalence of stunting. All provinces in the central region of Indonesia have reached > 100% for AKP. Based on the PPH score of the animal food sources group, three provinces still need to reach the ideal PPH score of the animal food group, namely Central Java Province, East Java Province, and Bali Province. Bali Province is one of the provinces that have the contribution of animal food consumption with the type of fish food (37.31%), while the other types of food have contributed poultry meat 31.61%, ruminant meat 15.03%, eggs 11.40%, and milk is 4.60%. The high contribution of fish, poultry meat, and milk to the animal food group can cause the low prevalence of stunting in Bali Province.
